At this point, we were all unsure who to trust but went to the then empty gate, all very exhausted and frustrated. Dozens and dozens of people were sent across the entire gate to the customer service center that was no help for over an hour before finally telling us our flight was still leaving and stationed at a new gate. We boarded our flight after a heavy delay, then we were told by the pilot that we could not fly and deplaned.
We had multiple technical difficulties that were communicated to us falsely or extremely late, leaving the passengers in a state of constant chaos. For almost 6 hours, we were told conflicting information from the pilot, crew, members stationed at the gate and United members online and at the service desk. Serious retraining needs to be completed and boarding attendants should not be able to harass airline passengers." It was both the lack of respect and the lack of consistency that lead me to have an extremely "poor" boarding experience. It was not until I was seated on the plane that I noticed more than a dozen items of luggage larger than mine and that the vast majority of people that had 3, 4, 5 carry on items when the maximum is 2: one personal item and one carry on luggage item. Not wanting to cause a scene and quite frankly speechless by this man's attitude, I did not object.
He grabbed it out of my possession, shoved it into the luggage sizing rack and even though it did fit inside the lines, he said it was "too close" and would need to be checked. I walk up next, my ticket is scanned and then the personnel at the gate said in what I can only describe as the most disrespectful, inconsiderate, ill-tempered tone that he would need take my bag. My husband reached the gate, his ticket scanned, and let onto the plane.

We were in loading zone 6, so not required and preferred not to due to our full day of air travel that would continue into a 3 hour car trip. The saddest part of yet another terrible experience with Delta was that they offered us a "discounted" room at a terrible Howard Johnson for $72. Our bags did make it to Sioux Falls, so my wife didn't have her prenatal vitamins,, we had no clean clothes and we were forced to spend the night in Atlanta. My pregnant wife and I made it to the gate 4 minutes before the scheduled departure and they told us the plane was already gone and there was no way for us to get on the plane.
